Commando, directed by Mark L. Lester, is a high-octane action movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger in one of his most iconic roles. The film blends intense action sequences with a straightforward plot, making it a quintessential 1980s action flick.
Retired Special Forces Colonel John Matrix (Arnold Schwarzenegger) lives a peaceful life in the mountains with his daughter Jenny (Alyssa Milano). However, his past comes back to haunt him when members of his former unit are mysteriously killed. Soon, Matrix’s idyllic life is shattered as a group of mercenaries led by Bennett (Vernon Wells), a rogue ex-teammate, kidnap Jenny to force Matrix into an assassination plot.
The mercenaries, working for a deposed South American dictator named Arius (Dan Hedaya), demand Matrix assassinate a political leader to help Arius regain power. When Matrix refuses, they give him an ultimatumโ€”comply or Jenny dies.
Matrix agrees but quickly escapes his captors, setting off a race against time to rescue his daughter. With the reluctant help of a flight attendant named Cindy (Rae Dawn Chong), Matrix tracks down the mercenaries and their employer, leaving a trail of destruction in his wake.
The climax unfolds in a spectacular showdown at Arius’ fortified compound. Armed to the teeth, Matrix fights his way through waves of enemy soldiers to save Jenny. The film concludes with an epic hand-to-hand combat scene between Matrix and Bennett, culminating in Matrix’s victory and Jenny’s rescue.
